Dark Souls 3 Soul Farming Tips

Dark Souls 3 Soul Farming
Compatible items can help greatly.

First of all, if you have items that increase soul gathering, you should equip them to further enhance soul farming.

Covetous Silver Serpent Ring

In my multiple playthroughs, I've discovered that this item is quite helpful in soul farming. The reason I've mentioned this item is that it allows you to absorb up to 20% more souls per kill. Plus; it combines with the Symbol of Avarice, enabling you to go up to 44% more soul gathering. Another positive is that you can even use it during PVP battles.

To acquire this item, you must go to the Tomb of Giants and collect it just before the second bonfire. Just be warned that after picking this item up, you will be immediately attacked by 5 skeletons. It makes soul farming significantly easier at the cost of one ring slot. Since it does not provide any combat buffs, you should only use this item when you are farming for souls.

Shield of Want

This shield not only increases soul gathering but also provides great defensive buffs. The requirement for its use is rather high, however – 18 strength, but it is remarkably effective. It also increases souls gained by 20%.

The requirement is to hold this shield to use its passive. The good part is that you do not have to meet the strength requirement for the passive to work. To obtain it, go to the Smouldering Lake and loot the corpse next to the giant worm. You can't miss it.

Dark Souls 3 Soul Farming Locations

Some locations are better than others for farming souls

Now that we have the tips out of the way, let's discuss the locations. These locations will help you through the early game to the end game. Depending on your level, you will be able to easily farm the souls from these locations and upgrade your character.

Road of Sacrifices

One of these locations is just before the early game boss – The Abyss Watchers. Here you can get roughly 4000 souls every two minutes. There're a few reasons why this is such a good spot for early game farming.

For one, the Darkwraiths will do most of your work for you. You can stay at the top of the hill and watch them hack away at your enemies while you walk over and collect the souls.

Also, specific enemies will drop Wolf's Blood Swordgrass. The drop rate is relatively low, but you can turn them in the covenant of the watchdogs of Farron.

Additionally, you can throw down your summoning sign in front of the Abyss Watcher encounter and summon for additional souls. This will assist you greatly in the early game, and you'll be able to take down the Abyss Watchers in no time.

Sewers Under Irythyll Castle

Here the spider creatures yield 990 souls per kill and are incredibly convenient to defeat. Just run the circuit and kill all the enemies in this area. If you keep on doing this, you'll get 9000 souls every other minute without having to do much.

Once you kill the spider creatures, you should use a homeward bone to return to the nearest bonfire. From there, repeat this step, and you'll have plenty of souls farmed.

Church of Yorshka

This is also located in Irythyll, so you won't have to go far from the last location we discussed. There's a lap you can run that yields roughly 7200 souls per two minutes. This is a little less than the sewers, but the enemies have a higher drop rate Titanite shards.

So first off; after starting from the Church, head out and take a left. Do a plunging attack to kill the Fire Witch – this enemy alone yields 2500 souls each kill.

After that, just run up the stairs and kill the two enemies in your way. Then continue going forward and kill any enemy that comes in your way. You can even use your summon sign to deal with intruding co-op players because this area is popular for invasions. After you defeat the enemies in your way, the circuit is completed, and you can return to the Church bonfire and reset.

Archdragon Peak

The optional secret area – Archdragon Peak

This location has the highest drops for souls but keep in mind that the enemies here do not drop any other item whatsoever. They are strictly for soul farming. This is an optional secret location so make sure that you unlock it first.

Once you reach the area, the Mage will continuously summon enemies just after the second bonfire. Each time you kill one, a new enemy will be immediately summoned. Equip your hardest-hitting melee weapon, wait for the summon to spawn, and backstab it to kill him. Each time you kill an enemy, you get 5280 souls per kill.

To effectively gather souls from this area, wear the Hornet Ring to boost your critical attack damage. You can potentially earn about 100,000 souls every 5-10 minutes. This is one of the best Dark Souls 3 Soul Farming locations.

Top of the Grand Archives

The final location for the Dark Souls 3 soul farming guide is a difficult one but the reward overweighs the risk. Not only do the enemies drop large chunks of souls, but they also have a chance of dropping large Titanite shards.

From the bonfire, get on the elevator and head to the top. Once you reach the top, go out the door and take a left. Doing so will take you to the roof. On the roof, there are the three Winged Knights. They can be backstabbed fairly easily, but if you mess up, they hit hard.

To make it a bit simpler, take out the ax-wielding Winged Knight as he is the one who patrols the rooftops. Once he is down, take out the halberd Knights – picking them out one by one. Keep in mind that the first time you kill these three enemies in one go, you'll receive a Titanite slab as well. If you can effectively clear out the three Knights, you'll be able to collect 60,000 souls every 5 minutes.

Plus, you're guaranteed 3 large Titanite shards, which are worth 4000 souls each.

Conclusion

That about does it for my guide about Dark Souls 3 Soul Farming. I hope this was helpful for new and veteran players alike. Don't be shy to try out these locations for the most optimal soul gathering. Doing so will make some of the boss fights a breeze since you'll mostly be over-leveled.

Don't forget to leave a comment telling us about your favorite location for soul farming. Till next time, happy soul gathering Ashen One.
